Form: 5th

Sport: Squash

Hometown: Locust Valley, NY

Individual Honors: Maggie has been a member of Girls Varsity Squash since her freshman year. Now as a junior, Maggie is the #1 seed on a very talented squad. She has helped Coach Foster’s squad win back-to-back Founders League titles as well as a 7th place finish in the National High School Squash Tournament. Among individual honors, Maggie is ranked #17 in the United States at her age group.

Squash Experience: Maggie started to play squash when she was eight years old. She has been playing squash for nine years, three of them being for the Choate varsity team.

Off-Season Training: As a three varsity sport athlete, Maggie finds it difficult to practice squash all year around. In the fall, she helped the Girls Varsity Soccer team to an 8-7-2 season. In the spring, Maggie is a member of Girls Varsity Lacrosse. “I’m not really an off season squash trainer,” said Maggie. “I like play other sports.”

Favorite Part of Squash: “Squash is an individual sport, but I really like how at Choate it is a team feeling,” said Maggie. “On the court, I just love playing matches. The competition is really fun, so that is my favorite part.” This year, Maggie has compiled a 10-5 personal record. In 15 matches, she has won 35 games while giving up only 13 to her opponents. Winning at the #1 position is not always easy, so Maggie’s dedication and talent has truly impacted the team’s success.

Season Goals: With the team already clinching the Founders title, with a 7-0 record within the league, Maggie hopes to perform her best in the New England Championships. Starting on the 22nd, Choate will be hosting the tournament in the WJAC.

Future Goals: “Get into better shape,” said Maggie, describing how important her fitness is while playing squash. Her off-season sports play a key role in her preseason conditioning. However, in order to be a top notch squash player, one must be in the best shape of his or her life. “I want to be able to outlast my opponent in any five game matches.”
