November 9, 2001- As a result of the Anthrax scares across the country, the Choate administration took the necessary safety precautions by removing the student obligation of mail room work crew.

November 9, 2001- The anthrax scare in Washington D.C. forced the cancellation of the annual American Political Institutions Washington D.C. Trip. The unpredictability of the logistics of meetings in Washington D.C. also was a factor in the cancellation, for the students would have visited numerous government buildings that were closed down because of the scare.

November 15, 1996- The issue of whether to give third form dorms internet access was debated for the fist time in an administration meeting. Many Memorial House prefects were against the idea, revealed by a poll conducted by Mr. Cook, the third form boys dean.

November 15, 1996- The annual Community Day took place at Choate Rosemary Hall. Choate students and faculty along with Mark T. Sheehan High School students and Lyman Hall High School students raked leaves for senior citizens living in Wallingford.

25 Years Ago

November 13, 1980- The Hunger Task Force held a Hunger Banquet in the Choate Rosemary Hall dining hall to represent the percentages of the world’s population that eat a substantial meal every day. Depending on ticket colors, students were given various meals which went from eating rice on the floor to eating a luxurious sit down meal.

November 13, 1980- The Energy Task Force launched a campaign to encourage students to save energy. This saved the school a large amount of money, and caused the government to give a grant in order to renovated dormitory windows for heat conservation.

50 Years Ago

November 10, 1956- St. Andrew’s Society at Choate Rosemary Hall adopted an 11 year-old Korean orphan through Foster Parents’ Plan, Inc. The community service club vowed to pay $9.00 a month to pay for clothes, shoes, and vitamin enriched foods for the young boy.

November 7, 1956- Choate students were given a break from classes and were instead encouraged to help clean up the campus on a day called the Fall Project Day.
