Form: 6th Form

Hometown: Durham, Connecticut

Sport: Soccer

Position: Goalkeeper

Recent accomplishment: “Being on the U.S. National Team for the past year and a half,” Jill describes as her greatest recent achievement. Even more impressive, the National Team has beaten Denmark 4-0, and England 3-0. Also, Jill has earned national fame playing in Europe.

Most memorable moment: While traveling in Europe and playing with great players of her age group, Jill has had many moments that will stick with her for the rest of her life. However, Jill precisely remembers “playing against Germany at the Home Depot Center in California.” Playing in her first international game, she managed to record her first shutout by beating Germany 2-0.

Off-season training: Being on several other teams outside of school, Jill says that she “actually plays all year around.” However, during the summer, she tries to stay in shape by running, working out with her two trainers, and spending as much time as possible in the net.

Future aspirations: Jill, who has committed to Boston College, says that she “will be playing goalkeeper there for four years.” Also, she would love to play the women’s professional soccer league, which plans to return in 2009.

Season goals: As a senior captain of the Girls’ Varsity Soccer team, she strives to make sure that the “team improves and builds for the future” after she graduates. Even though the team did not make the New England tournament, the girls won five straight games before losing to Williston Northampton 0-1.

Pre-Game rituals: Getting the idea from Boston College, she says that each game, a group of two or three girls make sure that the team is pumped up for the game. Doing skits, songs, cheers to pump up her teammates is extremely helpful. “The team’s bond,” Jill describes, “is huge. You don’t have to be the best skilled team. But if your teammates are close, that’s what takes the team farther.”
