Experience: Inspired by his hero, Yankees’ outfielder Tino Martinez, Stewart started playing Little League in first grade and has been playing baseball ever since. Stewart has played in squads ranging from his neighborhood Little League team to his summer league AAU team.
Role on Squad: Arriving last year as a new sophomore, Stewart immediately had an impact on Choate baseball. Stewart is not only the starting third baseman but also bats fourth, or “clean-up.”
Goals for the Season: Stewart and the team aim to defend last year’s Colonial League championship. He also hopes that the team’s senior leadership led by captains Sam Wheeler ’08 and Matt McCullough ’08 will help them defeat the competition. On the field, Stewart hopes to “maintain a solid balance between his academic work, my social career, and most importantly my level of play on the diamond.”
Plans for the Future: “I want to play baseball at the collegiate level, and it has always been a dream of mine to play in the major leagues,” says Stewart. After that, Stewart looks to one day retire to a gorgeous Cape Cod retreat with a lovely wife and some delightful children.
