I appreciate the excellent coverage of Mr. Jeffrey Sachs’s acceptance of our offer to be the commencement speaker this year. I would, however, like to clarify one aspect of Maddie Broder’s fine lead article. The article seemed to give the impression that flying in a private jet is Mr. Sachs’s “Modus Vivendi.” Actually, because Mr. Sachs was scheduled to be in Jackson hole for the global insight summit with the Secretary General of the UN on the Saturday before commencement, a member of out board of trustees offered to charter a plane to transport Mr. Sachs from Montana to a commercial airport for a commercial flight to Hartford. Although a very gracious gesture on the part of our board member, it proved to have been unnecessary, as Mr. Sachs was able to make other arrangements for getting to our commencement.
I would appreciate your clarifying this aspect of the article.
