Jan 25 2002 - A ceremony at 4:00 pm marked the official opening of the newly renovated Winter X. The fitness center was moved to the upper floor and given a free atmosphere with the addition of glass windows. New aerobics machines were also added to complete a full selection of work out equipment. Along with the additions were athletic offices, a dance studio, two internationl squash courts, and a trainer’s room.

Jan 24 1997 - Playwright and screenwriter, James Brabazon came to Choate to conduct two writing sessions, in which students could benefit by hearing contstructive critisism of their writing. Brabazon was well known for his work on The Wives of Henry VIII and his biography on Albert Sweitzer, which became a movie as well. Brabazon encouraged acting and creative writing in the sessions he held with students. His sessions were found highly interesting and inspiring by the students he worked with.

Jan 29 1982 - A sculpture of New Wave art entered Choate’s PMAC. This particular sculpture was done by a Choate graduate, John Battle, who went on to Dartmouth, and later found work in Boston, where his creative mind was inspired. Battle created his work out of any scrap he could find and by loosely piecing different unique parts together to create art with the concept of “still-life theater.”

Jan 6 1957 - This week, Choate hosted various students from thirteen different schools. The NESGA is the Executive Committee of the New England Student Government, therefore concerning itself with issues of the student council. Topics such as “What are the Aims and Objectives of the Student Council?” were brought to the table. Future meetings were also planned in order to make the school year as smooth as possible for students. The committee continually helps to deal with issues in student government.
