Student Council Beat
Daily Grind

By Nikhith Naidu ‘09

News Staff Reporter

The Student Council held a meeting on Thursday, January 10th where various topics of Choate life were discussed. The Daily Grind, Choate’s conference period coffee shop, which was started with the initiative of juniors Bowen Kelley, Miles Cozart and Andrew Kim, was one of the topics discussed during the meeting. The Daily Grind is trying to make about $3000 so that it can pay for all of the expenses involved in constructing a well for a Nigerian village. Student Council president Yoonjin Ha ‘08 said that it was doing “very well” and was making a “consistent” profit. In tackling the challenge of maintaining student interest, the student council is changing up the flavors of the coffee and tea served. Some new flavors to look forward to may include oriental teas such as Yunnan tea, “blossom” tea and Chai tea.
