Fall

Winner: Girls Cross-Country

The Girls Cross Country team was by far the best squad in the Fall Season. After placing first in the Canterbury Invitational by defeating teams from Deerfield and Hotchkiss, the girls went on to a great 6-1 season. The highlight came when the Boars traveled to Deerfield and defeated their rivals by the score of 24-35. At the Founders League Cross Country Championships, the girls finished 2nd behind a strong Loomis Chaffee squad. Loomis defeated Choate for the first place honors by only 5 points. A week later, the girls finished in 4th place in the New England Championships.

Honorable Mention: Girls Volleyball

Winter

Winner: Girls Ice Hockey

The Girls Ice Hockey team finished a tremendous year as the best hockey squad in New England. With a record of 17-4-2, the girls started their season with a four-game win streak. However, the girls experienced a mid-season spell when they lost three out of four games. After losing to Lawrence Academy 2-3 in overtime, the team bounced back and finished the season undefeated in their final eleven games. With coaches Courtney Riepenhoff and Sarah Nutting leading the way, the squad defeated Westminster, Hotchkiss, and Nobles to win the New England Ice Hockey Championship.

Honorable Mention: Girls Squash

Spring

Winner: Girls Softball

The Girls Softball squad ended its spectacular season with the record of 15-3. The highlight of the season was winning the Western New England Championship by defeating Hopkins 8-1 in the semis, and Loomis 7-3 in the finals. The girls managed to win eleven straight games after overpowering Deerfield for a 12-0 win. Led by coaches Jim Iryzk and Kim Grunwald, the squad was able to greatly improve from last year’s record of 8-7. This year, all three loses the team suffered came by only one run. Also, the squad outscored its opponents 184 to 29, while pitching eight shut-outs in 18 games.
