Varsity Girls Soccer battled to a 2-2 tie against a feisty Taft team. In the waning moments of the game, Taft scored a fluke goal to tie the game up. Alex Gambardella ‘10 and Emily Coleman ‘08 both scored for Choate. On Wednesday the girls beat Pomfret by a score of 1-0. Kate Goldmann came up with the lone goal two minutes into the game and the defense held Pomfret scoreless for the duration of the game.

On Saturday, Varsity Girls Field Hockey defeated Taft 1-0 in a hard-fought game. The defense was especially stingy during the game. On Wednesday, Choate lost a difficult game to Loomis Chaffee 5-3. The Boars were led by a strong performance by Hilary Knight ’07.

On Wednesday, Varsity Volleyball traveled to Hopkins to face up against the Hilltoppers for the second time this season. Once again, Choate won 3 games to none (30-28, 30-23, and 31-29). Saturday, Choate played host to the Taft Big Red. The Boars won 3 games to zero to improve their record on the season to 8-1.

On Saturday, Varsity Boys Cross Country won their two meets against Deerfield and Loomis. The team trounced Deerfield on their Parent’s Weekend by a score of 18-37, after Deerfield characterized the team as “struggling” on their athletic website. The boys also defeated bitter league rival Loomis Chaffee by a score of 26-29 with strong performances by Barrett LaChance ’07, Chris Krokus ’08, Sam Craft ’10 and captains Andy Holden ’07 and Corey Sherman ’07, all of whom ran personal best mile splits.

Varsity Girls Cross Country defeated Loomis 26–33 and Deerfield 24 – 35. Their record now stands at 5 – 1. The front 9 preformed very well once again, with Caroline Bazinet ’10 nailing down the individual victory once again.
