On the Course With... Caroline Bazinet

By Mark Nemec ‘07

News Staff Reporter
Form: 3rd

Hometown: Wethersfield, CT

Sport: Cross-Country

Recent Accomplishments: As a freshmen, Caroline is a critical runner for the Girls’ Cross-Country Team. A member of the Choate community for only a month, Caroline has already made quite a name for herself and has earned the position of the team’s top harrier. Having run in only five races so far, she has surprisingly won two races already.

History in Cross Country: Caroline has only been involved in the sport for two years. Prior to dedicating herself to Cross Country, Caroline ran track at her previous school where she proved that her running was her strong suit.

Goals for The Season: Caroline’s aspirations for the season consist of running to the best of her ability, and in doing so “help[ing] the team win as many races possible.” She states that she would like to finish in the top fifteen in New England, and have the team win New Englands.

Future Plans: Though she has only been running Cross Country for two years, Caroline loves the sport. She intends to continue running at the collegiate level, hopefully Division I, where she will undoubtedly impact for whatever school she runs for.

Favorite Aspect of Running: Caroline is a very competitive athlete and likes to challenge herself mentally and physically. In every race she pushes herself to better her PR. She also likes “the challenge of the various courses including the hills and different trails.”

Pre-race: Before every race, the girls have a meditation session to let go of the week’s tension and help focus on the next day. On the day of the race, Caroline pumps herself up by listening to “Call on Me” by Eric Pyrdz.
