Role on the team: “Last season I played middle, but Dan Thomas [‘08] came, and the team decided to put me on the outside,” said Fred. “I hit the ball. I hit the thing.” The Boys Volleyball Team has been very successful with their creative offense. As Coach Mobley stated in the beginning of the season, “We have a five-star offense.”
Experience prior to CRH: “None,” said Fred; he started playing volleyball at Choate. “I played JV freshman year, and varsity sophomore and junior year.”
Team Rituals: “We all listen to a bunch of music,” said Fred. “I am tempted to say that we use Mean Girls quotes; we ended up watching it on the way up to NMH.” This strategy must have worked since the Wild Boars came away with a convincing 3-0 victory against the Hoggers.
Favorite part of volleyball: “When we play, we play a good game,” said Fred. “The coolest thing that we do—and we do it really well— is that we run great plays. Our offense is amazing, and our offense sells tickets.”
Future Aspirations: “I don’t think I’ll play college, but I can play club volleyball,” said Fred.
Goals for the season: “To be number one,” stated Fred emphatically. “We are the number one team right now, so we should definitely be able to win the entire thing.” Fred and his teammates are currently on a roll. The team record stands at 7-1, with the only loss coming to Philips Andover Academy by a 3-2 margin in the first game of the season.
“We will take it to the house,” said Fred. “We recently beat what was the number one team on Saturday 3-0. We should be the top team by the end of the year.”
