Love Is In The Air

By Grace Park ‘07

News Staff Reporter
Everyone at Choate had different events and different memories to think of on this week’s Valentine’s Day. Seniors had their own senior dance at the SAC, while many dorms had special Valentine’s Day mug nights. In McCook, the colorful Valentine’s Day balloons (with which people had fun later with their helium voices) and cute little Valentine’s Day cards boosted the spirit of the day. Twelve different flavors of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream and Hershey’s Kisses, generously provided by Alexandra Drago ‘08’s parents, provided everyone with something to gorge on. Archbold also had a Valentine’s Day and a birthday mug night with homemade raspberry lemon cake, provided by the birthday girl, Rana Searfoss ‘06’s family. Apart from many dorm events, the senior dance at the SAC from nine to ten thirty featured something different for the special day. A karaoke stand was set so that everyone could sing and entertain the rest with his or her singing attempts. Betty Hu ‘06 commented, “Although I was at the dance for a short time, I thought it was decent and the karaoke part was hilarious.”Certainly the most exciting events on Valentine’s Day were the romantic events happening around the school. Community service groups such as GLOW provided “Candy Gram” services, through which students were able to send other students small packages of candy with a card. Julia Mellon ’07 said, “In my U.S. history class, Laura [Reid ’07] wrote Valentine’s Day cards to everyone. I love my history class!”
