In His Own Words... Sam Sabky ‘07 Reflects on Olympic Glory
News Guest Writer
How did we feel about playing female team USA? Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaantastic. You see my friends, this isn’t an everyday thing. We don’t wake up everyday thinking, “Ya know, I think I’m in the mood to play Team USA, let me holla at them on my cellular.”
In fact, this is a once in a lifetime experience, where we, the Choate Boys Varsity Hockey team, get to be used as what we like to call, “training devices,” for the USA Women’s Olympic Ice Hockey team. All I know is that if I have wanted to be used by a woman, it would be this way. But you know what really grinds my gears?! Some of you chauvinist goofballs may be thinking, “But they’re girls! How can they possibly keep up with a team as strong and handsome as Choate?” You know what you silly gooses? A little birdie told us that Angela Ruggiero bench presses Toyota Camrys, so trust us, these girls can pack a punch. Not only can those girls communicate and make textbook passes, but man, can they dangle. Although the final score was 6-2, the girls proved to be quite the opponent.
This team is one for the making, and we’re calling the Gold Medal at Torino, so take that to the bank. As a team, we feel honored to be part of this once-in-a lifetime spectacle.... And that’s how the cookie crumbles.
