A new company, AirTroductions, charges $5 to set up airline passengers with like-minded travelers on their flight to avoid the all too common experience of long, awkward flights with a complete stranger in the next seat. The company is based on the Web and requires a personality profile.


Lockport, NY

A judge offered a 20-year-old man the option of either enlisting in the Army or going to jail for a year after he pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal contempt for violating an order of protection.


Los Angeles, CA

Actor William Shatner, a.k.a. Captain Kirk, sold his kidney stone to GoldenPalace.com for $25,000 with the proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity. GoldenPalace.com is an online casino with a collection of oddities including a half-eaten grilled cheese sandwich that is said to contain the image of the Virgin Mary.


San Francisco, CA

Wendy’s has offered a $100,000 reward for information regarding the origin of the infamous human finger that was found in a bowl of the fast food restaurant’s chili earlier this year.
