Girls Basketball easily defeated a much younger and inexperienced Hopkins team on Monday, January 9th. Choate pulled ahead right away, with four unanswered baskets within the fi rst few minutes. Although Hopkins did not prove to be much competition for Choate, the Boars still played hard and hustled throughout the entire game. Not only did Choate win 51-31, but for the fi rst time in four years every member on the squad scored. Kat Luby ’08 scored eight points, Skyla Lamberto-Egan ‘06 snagged nine rebounds, and Jill Mastroianni ’08 had four steals.

Boys Swimming traveled up to Andover on Saturday, January 7th. Although the team fought hard and swam well, they ended up losing 81-104. Only John Dillon and Jay Lee won their events, as well as the relay team with Jay Lee, Alex Oumarbaev, John Dillon and Ray Li. Andover’s victory ended Choate’s dual meet winning streak which started nearly six years ago.

On Saturday, January 11th, Girls Squash faced off against Loomis Chaffee. Choate came out on top, winning the match 6-1 as everyone from the #2 to the #10 matches won her individual match. Lily Cohen, #1, fought hard against her opponent but suffered a tough loss. The next day Choate stayed home and faced off against Miss Porter’s, whom they beat 6-1. The girls’ record is now 5-1.

Wrestling competed against Hyde last weekend during their first home match. Almost every grappler pinned his opponent, and Hyde went home defeated by a score of 71-12. Both Christian Duffy ’08 and Greg Sturges ’06 continued their winning streak and Jarrod Sowell ’06 won his first match of the season.
