Athlete: Caroline Wilson Form: 3rd Hometown: West Hartford, Connecticut. Recent Accomplishments: Only a freshman, Wilson is already one of the strongest overall swimmers on the Dolphin squad. This season she regularly wins events in the 500m free, 200m individual medley, and the 200m free.
New England History: She placed 7th in the 500yd free and 4th in breaststroke last year in New Englands as an eighth grader at Kingswood-Oxford, swimming with the high school varsity team.
Events: Although her main event is primarily the 500m free, Wilson can swim just about anything, depending on the team’s needs. She also specializes in the 100m breaststroke and has had several chances to swim it this year.
Swimming History: A swimmer since age 5, when she started on a summer club team, Caroline was introduced to year round swimming by her friend who swam competitively in the winter. Since her first season, Wilson has not stopped competitively swimming.
Training: She trains on long weekends, vacations, and all summer long with the team Sonoco at Central Connecticut State University.
Favorite aspect of swimming: She said, “There are a lot [of aspects], like the teams are amazing, you meet a lot of good people and friends.” Also she stated, “The fun is in accomplishing your goals and knowing that you can do something that you never thought was possible.”
Future Goals: Caroline is hoping to do well at New Englands again this season, but this time representing Choate. She wants to place in the top three in the 100 breaststroke. Wilson also noted that that swimming in college is another future goal of hers. She said, “Getting through college swimming would be enough,” but if anything better came along she would take it.
